🏠 About Our Home Visit Service

What is a home visit dentist?
A home visit dentist is a fully qualified, GDC-registered dentist who travels to your home — or care home — and provides dental treatment in your own environment. We bring all the equipment normally found in a dental surgery, including portable dental units, digital x-rays, and all necessary materials, directly to you.
Who is this service suitable for?
Our service is ideal for anyone who finds it difficult or impossible to visit a standard dental practice. This includes elderly and frail patients, people with physical disabilities or limited mobility, individuals with dementia or cognitive conditions, post-operative or seriously ill patients, highly anxious dental patients, and care home or nursing home residents. We also welcome patients who simply prefer the convenience of dental care at home.
Which areas of Birmingham do you cover?
We cover all Birmingham postcodes (B1–B45) and many surrounding West Midlands areas including Solihull, Sutton Coldfield, Wythall, and more. If you’re unsure whether we cover your postcode, just call us on 0121 624 0880 and we’ll confirm.
Do you visit care homes and nursing homes?
Yes — a significant part of our work is with care homes and nursing homes across Birmingham. We can visit individual residents or arrange regular visiting schedules for facilities. Care home managers can contact us directly to discuss a visiting arrangement suitable for their residents.
What equipment do you bring to a home visit?
We bring everything needed to carry out a full dental appointment — portable dental unit, digital x-ray equipment, examination instruments, filling materials, extraction forceps, local anaesthetic, impression materials for denture work, full PPE and infection control equipment, and a portable light. Essentially a complete dental surgery, in portable form.

💷 Pricing & Payments

How much does a home visit cost?
Our standard visit fee is £75, which covers the dentist’s travel and setup. Treatment fees are charged on top — for example, a check-up and scale & polish is £95. So a typical first appointment costs around £170 in total. See our full Pricing page for a complete breakdown.
Are there any hidden fees?
No — we provide a full written treatment plan with all costs before any treatment begins. You’ll never be surprised by an unexpected charge. The visit fee and all treatment costs are clearly explained upfront.
Do you offer NHS treatment?
Our home visit service is private only — we do not carry out NHS-funded domiciliary dental appointments. All treatment is provided on a private, self-pay basis with transparent pricing.
How do I pay?
Payment is due on the day of the appointment and can be made by bank transfer or card. Please contact us in advance if you have any concerns about payment — we’re always happy to discuss your situation.
Do I still pay the visit fee if I decide not to have any treatment?
Yes — the visit fee covers the dentist’s time and travel to you, regardless of whether treatment is carried out. However, you will never be pressured into treatment. After the examination, you’ll receive a written plan and can decide in your own time what, if anything, to proceed with.

🦷 Treatments & Procedures

What treatments can you carry out at home?
We can carry out the vast majority of routine dental treatments at your home, including: dental examinations and check-ups, scale and polish (cleaning), white fillings, simple and surgical tooth extractions, emergency pain relief, crown recementing, and full denture services including new dentures, repairs, and relining. See our Dental Services page for the full list.
Can you take dental X-rays at home?
Yes — we carry portable digital x-ray equipment and can take x-rays at your home when clinically necessary. Digital x-rays use significantly less radiation than traditional film x-rays and give us an immediate result, allowing us to diagnose and treat in the same visit.
Can you make new dentures at home?
Yes — we can take all the impressions and measurements needed for new dentures during home visits. The dentures are made in a dental laboratory and then fitted at a subsequent home visit. We also offer denture relining (improving the fit of existing dentures) and denture repairs.
What if I need a treatment you can’t do at home?
Occasionally a patient may need expert treatment that requires a hospital or expert setting — for example, complex oral surgery or sedation. In these cases, we’ll provide a clear referral letter and advise on the most appropriate route of care. We work with local experts and can help coordinate your onward care.
Can you treat patients with dementia?
Yes — we have extensive experience working with patients with dementia and other cognitive conditions. Our dentists are trained in adapting their approach for patients who may be anxious, confused, or unable to communicate clearly. We work closely with carers and family members to ensure every appointment is as calm and comfortable as possible.

📅 Booking & Appointments

How do I book a home visit?
You can book online using our booking form, or call us on 0121 624 0880. We’ll confirm your appointment date and time and answer any questions beforehand.
How quickly can you visit?
For routine appointments, we typically have availability within a few days. For genuine dental emergencies — severe pain, swelling, or a tooth that has been knocked out — please call us on 0121 624 0880 and we’ll do our best to see you as quickly as possible, often the same or next day.
Do you offer evening or weekend appointments?
We offer appointments during standard working hours, and for genuine emergencies we may be able to accommodate evenings or weekends. An out-of-hours surcharge may apply. Please call us to discuss your specific situation.
Can a family member or carer be present during the appointment?
Absolutely — we positively encourage it. Having a familiar face present often makes the appointment much more relaxed, particularly for patients with anxiety or dementia. Carers can also provide helpful context about the patient’s health history and help with consent where appropriate.
What if I need to cancel or rearrange?
Please give us as much notice as possible if you need to cancel or change your appointment. You can call us on 0121 624 0880 to rearrange at any time. We understand that circumstances can change, especially for patients with complex health needs.
